Chelsea Hobbs
she/her
I was born and raised in Edmonton and have over ten years of counselling training and experience in various hospital, community, university, and private practice settings. I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a full-time doctoral student in the accredited Counselling Psychology program at the University of Alberta.
I work predominantly from a client-centered approach, meaning I value individuals’ expertise regarding their own lives and believe that developing a strong, genuine, and supportive relationship is essential in supporting client change. I collaborate with clients to identify and build on their personal strengths and aim to create a safe environment to increase client hope and help clients work towards achieving their unique goals. I also acknowledge that people are part of a larger social network and work to explore how different systems may influence a client’s lived experience. As a feedback-informed therapist, I check in with my clients in formal and informal ways to ensure we are on track and moving in a meaningful and helpful direction.

While I enjoy working with a variety of concerns, I specialize in working with reproductive and maternal mental health, including perinatal loss (e.g., miscarriage) and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (e.g., postpartum depression & postpartum anxiety). I also have an elite sports background and a passion for coaching, leading me to have been involved with athletes at local, national, and international levels. These experiences allow me to bring a unique perspective in working with athletes both in sport performance and mental health.
