I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with over 10 years of experience working in various addictions and mental health settings. Currently, I am a doctoral student in the accredited Counselling Psychology program at the University of Alberta. As a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I offer counselling to teens and adults under the supervision of Dr. Shelagh Dunn and Michelle Merchant.
I practice using a genuine, non-judgmental, and caring stance. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where my clients feel safe and comfortable. I believe each individual has inherent strength and wisdom, so I collaborate with my clients to find intervention approaches that build on what they are already doing. I do not believe there is one right way to live a life and my hope is to help my clients live in a way that is aligned with their values.
Throughout my training, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan in a variety of areas including mental health, sexuality, gender-identity, emotion regulation, interpersonal and relationship issues, stress, self-criticism, body image/self-esteem, and motivation. I welcome clients of any gender, gender expression and sexual orientation and enjoy working with individuals from the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
My general approach to counselling is relationship-focused and collaborative. I often use techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I believe in the importance of getting feedback from my clients to find an approach that works for them. My fees for counselling are $150-$200 per hour, using a sliding scale.
